Here is few picture from tonight trip. Recently i was attending photography class and it was our first night shoot. i was glad that i took up the the course and it really help me with shooting ; better angle and setting. Since i was free today not much work so i decided to go down early. It was a good effect and fruitful trip and we manage to learn something more. Merlion always has been a tourists attraction since day one and we can see many people include local were there taking picture of the Great Merlion Status. After finish with the Merlion and we head off opposite the Anderson bridge to do some more night shooting of the Singapore River and The Fullerton Hotel.

Getting to love taking picture and singapore got lots of places to shoot.

I have been thinking about going down to MacRitchie Reservoir Tree top walk for quite sometime. Just that don’t really have the time. Anyway last week finally make my down to MacRitchie Reservoir for the tree top walk. I didn’t know that it was close on Monday. Hmmm….. So you folks if going for the tree top walk at MacRitchie Reservoir tree top walk please do not go down on Monday.They usually open from Opening hours of the Walk are Tue to Fri: 9am-5pm, Sat, Sun and Public Holidays: 8.30am-5pm. Closed on Mondays except public holidays for maintenance and research.

If you are driving down, you can park your car at Venus Drive, off Upper Thomson Road car park and it free.The car will close about 6pm or 7pm and if you didn’t manage to come out before this timing you need to come back the next day to collect your car. So, if you are coming for the Tree top walk do come early.

Normally, the distance felt longer when you walk toward the Tree Top walk compare to coming back from it. The total distance from car park to the Tree top walk and back to Venus Walk is about 10km and it took me close to 3 hour for the whole journey. It was tiring and my leg sore but it was a good walk.

The next time i go i will definitely ask some of my friends along for the walk, it won’t be so  bore. And last thing the walk is  not suitable for your children below 5 years old and pets are not allow to enter the Natural park.

Here is another try at shooting night scenery. Over here is a set of  Singapore night scenery pictures i took when i was at the Esplanade. i spend about 2 to 3 hours taking pictures and trying different setting and lots of picture turn out under or over exposure.

The Merlion park, The Esplanade  and the Fullerton are some good places to take nice and beautiful night scenery of Singapore.

Built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, the Marina Barrage creates Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. With a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, or one-sixth the size of Singapore, the Marina catchment is the island’s largest and most urbanised catchment. Together with two other new reservoirs, the Marina Reservoir will boost Singapore’s water catchment from half to two-third’s of the country’s land area.

Update from the previous post when i was at the Clarke quay  taking pictures. As i was along the Singapore River taking photos and saw the bum boat sailing along the river. I was thinking to experience the bum boat ride and wanted to know how  a tourist feel when they riding the bum boat. Not too bad, see Singapore buildings, boat quay, clarke quay, merlion status under repair and  lot places of interest of Singapore  in another perspective view. The Singapore River change a lots since i was young, during that time it was dirty and smelly. That was many years ago. i remember it was during the  late 70′s, Singapore government taking action to clean-up the river. I must praise Singapore government for doing a good job for letting us to have a beautiful and clean River. Now Singapore River has become one of the Singapore attraction, many tourists visit Singapore had visit the Singapore River.

Singapore attraction, Merlion park, Merlion status, Singapore iconic

I believe you already knew that the Merlion status is damaged by lightning Saturday afternoon during a thunderstorm. The 8.6 metre-tall Merlion has the head of a lion and the body and tail of a fish is one of the many popular Singapore attraction among the Tourism. Here is a picture before it was struck by lightning. Now it is undergo repair i can’t see much when i took the River cruise to the mouth of the Singapore River.

Here is a post follow up from the previous. I’ve plan to for the Singapore River Cruise and this is my 3rd time. Taking the bum boat cruise is a breath taking experience, not only let you see the city from the unique views from the River and allowing you to engages the transformation between the historic and the modern Singapore together. You can take very nice backdrop of the sky scrapper and the old colonial building together.

Splendid sights of Singapore.

Try it at dusk when there can be nice light in the sky as well as very attractive illumination of Bridges, streets and major buildings like Fullerton hotel and Asian Civilization Museum at Empress Place and etc…..

Numerous historical buildings on its banks as you cruise along the river.

You wouldn’t be able to imagine long ago that river was packed with bum boats that smelled of rubbers and coolies carrying heavy of of bales rubber on their back making their along the gang-planks

This is a good experience because you get to see most important structures and art from the water. It is an excellent opportunity to take photos.

Do this first and you’ll get more out of a walk along the river! Great eateries close by…! There are almost nine jetties as i counted or maybe it could be more. I suggest you start at the Merlion Park jetty.  The Merlion still under construction and repair due to the lighting strike.

The bum boats depart every 10 to 15 minutes.

As you aboard onto the bum boat, a recorded narration begins to play. It brings you back into the history of the river and the Historic Buildings along the river banks, as you cruise along the river, it also explain the history of the each bridge as cruise pass it.

The cruise takes about 30 minutes.

Hello folks,

I been planing to go down to cruise the Singapore River and take some pictures  for sometime back. Finally, i manage to find some free time yesterday and decided to go to shoot some nice pictures. I drove to  Clarke Quay in the noon time as i remember i saw a River Cruise station at Near Liang Court.

I was a bit Hungry and decided to go into Hooters Restaurant to have my lunch.

Order set lunch  and it was not very expensive, it cost me about $11 bucks

The meal come with

• Soft drink
  
• Soup and bread
• Main course – fish and chip
• Ice cream and tea/ coffee

I always wanted to take a picture with a Hooter Girl soI ask the waitress for a photo together. Very friendly girl!

Singapore Attraction, Singapore picture, Singapore flyer

The Singapore Flyer is the later installment for the Singapore Attraction. It comprises a 150m diameter wheel which build over a 3 story terminal reaching a total of 42 stories at 165m. The wheel is attach with 28  air conditioned capsules which able to house 28 passengers comfortable. The wheel takes approx. 30 to 45 minutes to complete 1 round. There are many shops and food outlet at the terminal for you to chill and relax before you board the flyer. You ever can go for a 10 minutes massage to relief your tension.

For your info. The flyer officially opened to the public on March 1 2008.

These pictures were taken during Thaipusam festival at little India. Singapore Hippo Tours bring you to  the major heritage sights in Singapore. Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam (Arab Muslim enclave), historical Civic District, etc. All these are part of Singapore attractive.

Sometimes, i think Tourisms know more about Singapore Heritage compare to Singaporeans. Not only the Tourisms, Singaporeans also can have great fun  riding  onto the Topless Hippo Bus and learn more about the Singapore heritage.

Upper Peirce Reservoir originally known as the Kallang River Reservoir. Not much of  a playground but is a good get away place for family. As you drive in you  notice lots of wild monkeys along the Road side and at the Reservoir  Park. Many monkeys live within the Catchment forest.

Many Signboards place along the road to the Reservoir and within the Park too.

“Do no feed the monkeys.”

Here is a short video clip i took when i were at the witnessing the Hindu Thaipusam Festival at little India Festival. Most of the roads were close during the festival, lucky for me i parked my car at Tekka Mall. It was a hot and sunny day. You can find lots pf people – Indian, Chinese, Malay local or foreigner all here to have a glimpse at the event. Devotees carrying various types of kavadi along a set route.

Finally back to office. My family  and i went to visit the Singapore zoo during the second day of lunar new year. I like going to the zoo and  my kid just love the seeing all the animals, especially the cheeky monkey. The Singapore Zoo is a huge place and you really can spent a whole day at the zoo. I visited the Singapore Zoo last Year but every time I’m there, I’m still get very excited about it. I thinks it because it the only holiday I can spend real quality time with my kid and my wife.

Singapore zoo is a good family outing …..!

This year we never purchase the Tram ride as we prefer to walk along the path to see the animals  but we did get the wager trolley for $15 dollars, to put our bag and for my kid to sit and pull him around the zoo. it a great fun and he just love it.

We decided to give up seeing the animals performance  shows as we saw its last year.No worry about the afternoon sun, a lots of trees surrounding the zoo, its provide a good shade as you walk around the zoo and as you walk along the walking path you can see many resting huts.

Most of the places and animals unchanged, the only changer i notice is the insert of a kid playground which call the Singapore Zoo’s Rainforest Kidzworld.This new and special attraction within the park offers an educational, fun and engaging time with family-focused activities.

And the selection is huge. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is adjacent to the New Park Hotel. Near the Farrer MRT station.

You won’t go hungry at little India, there are so many restaurants and coffee shops offer local Indian cuisine and if you are curvy for spicy food, curry fish head is a must to try. Lot of vegetarian restaurants along Serangoon road

Orchard not only a major tourist attraction but it also frequented by the local.

The first thing you will notice when you come to orchard road, there are lots of Shopping centre on both sides of the road. It stretch about 3km!
Nowadays not only you can see Huge and Big shopping malls along Orchard Road. But, along both side of Broadways you can find lots of Kiosks and small huts selling delicious foods and snacks, Drink and Coffee and so on………!

If you’re tired after all those shopping maybe you can find a good place to rest your legs.

Feel great just to looking at the People along Orchard Road………! I don’t mind spend the whole afternoon just to lay back and relax at Orchard Road.

You can take MRT to orchard road and there are 3 major stations will stop along orchard road. The stations are Orchard, Someset,  Dhoby Ghaut

This places is very popular during weekends.

You can find some of the biggest shopping malls at orchard road, Wheellock, Shaw Centre, Lucky Plaza, Tang , Ngee Ann City, The Paragon Centre Point and Plaza Singapura and many more…….
